Airborne Geophysics Project Manager

Position overview

• Manage suitable airborne-geophysics projects from the first qualified client conversation to accepted delivery and commercial closeout.
• Act as the consistent project contact for clients, pilots, field technicians, geophysicists and processing specialists.
• Report to BlueCap’s Managing Director and coordinate work across the Australian survey operation.
• Use BlueCap’s connected systems for qualification, quoting, planning, communication, project control and delivery.
• Join selected field visits to build first-hand technical knowledge and maintain project continuity where it adds value.

Engagement and availability

• This is a flexible part-time or project-based role; it is not currently advertised as a permanent full-time position.
• An agreed base component supports defined availability and responsibilities. Additional project-management work, field work and incentives are paid separately.
• The role may be combined with other suitable employment or consulting work, subject to confidentiality, availability and conflict-of-interest requirements.
• Hours, response windows and project commitments are agreed in advance. The role is not continuously on call.
• Candidates must be able to deliver agreed actions, attend scheduled client discussions and remain available throughout project periods they have accepted.

Key responsibilities

• Qualify inbound opportunities: understand the survey area, method, timing, access, budget and decision the client needs to make.
• Prepare fast, technically grounded quotes: turn project geometry and operating inputs into a clear scope, schedule and commercial position.
• Maintain one project story: keep requirements, decisions, commitments, risks, budget and next actions clear from enquiry through closeout.
• Coordinate delivery: connect the client with mission planning, mobilisation, pilots, field technicians, processing and final data handover.
• Protect project fit: identify work that is unsuitable or outside BlueCap’s technical, commercial or approved operating limits.
• Manage the commercial chain: support tenders, contracts, deposits, costs, variations, invoices, acceptance and payment.
• Join selected field campaigns by agreement: work within the field team as a Pilot Assistant and Field Technician after BlueCap-specific training.
• Improve the system: turn field and client observations into better checklists, calculations, screens, AI actions and operating procedures.

• Our own development: Portal, CRM, Phone, AI workflows, mission-planning integrations and processing tools are configured for BlueCap’s business and can be changed quickly when the operation needs a better function.

Essential selection criteria

• Demonstrated experience delivering survey, geophysics, mineral-exploration or comparable technical field projects.
• Evidence of managing scope, schedule, budget, client communication, field coordination, delivery and closeout.
• Demonstrated familiarity with Australian regional and remote operations, including practical implications of distance, access, mining locations and field logistics. This may come from relevant work or equivalent project experience.
• Sufficient technical understanding to communicate credibly with geophysicists, exploration managers, engineers and field teams.
• Clear practical English for calls, messages and project records, including survey, geophysical and engineering terminology. Polished corporate language is not a selection criterion.
• Commercial judgement, reliable independent work, disciplined follow-up and accurate project records.
• Australian work rights and availability for commitments agreed in advance.

Desirable experience

• Australian mining, mineral exploration, geophysics, engineering or technical survey projects.
• Tenders, contracts, deposits, project-cost control, variations, invoicing and client acceptance.
• Improving project systems, procedures, checklists, calculations or AI-assisted administrative workflows.
• Aviation, RPAS, slung-sensor or field-equipment experience is useful but not required.

Field travel and technical familiarisation

• A drone-pilot background and Remote Pilot Licence are not required. BlueCap provides role-specific aircraft, payload, field-system and procedure training.
• Selected survey visits allow the Project Manager to work alongside pilots, technicians and geophysicists, exchange experience and understand BlueCap’s technology and operating differences in practice.
• When attending a field visit, the Project Manager initially works as a Pilot Assistant and Field Technician under qualified BlueCap pilots.
• Field participation is agreed separately for each project. It does not mean attending every survey or remaining for a complete mobilisation.
• The inherent field requirements may include regional travel, periods away from home, small-aircraft or 4WD travel, uneven ground, safe manual handling of field equipment, heat, dust and isolated locations.
• Candidates must be able to meet applicable site, medical, safety and fitness-for-work requirements for each agreed deployment, with reasonable adjustments considered where they enable the inherent requirements to be performed safely.
• BlueCap provides approved project travel, suitable accommodation, meals, field equipment and operational support.

Remuneration, project incentives and long-term opportunity

• An agreed base component covers defined availability and core responsibilities.
• Additional project-management and field work is paid separately under the agreed engagement terms.
• Eligible projects may attract a performance-based bonus linked to contribution, delivery, client acceptance, payment and commercial outcome.
• After sustained performance as a core-team contributor, BlueCap may discuss an individually negotiated long-term option pathway. Any option remains discretionary and subject to separate written company, legal and tax terms.
• Incentives and any future option sit in addition to normal compensation; they do not replace it.

2. Shortlisted candidates complete the same structured discussion based on a realistic inbound survey enquiry: qualification, scope, risks, quote and delivery plan.
3. A technical and commercial interview with the BlueCap team tests the responsibilities and criteria described above.
4. Reference conversations are conducted for the preferred candidate or candidates with their knowledge.
5. Final employment or contractor classification, hours, compensation and engagement terms are confirmed in writing before onboarding.
